Cheer dad, Alistair hit the streets running again but this time it was the London Marathon, his very first one!! After months of training, lots of pasta, sore legs but not many blisters!! off we went to London. Alistair's aim over all the months of training was to run less than 3 hours on the day. The weather on the day was good and he got himself to the start and I was off to Tower Bridge which was half way to cheer him on. After a while all the elite runners came passed me including Paula Radcliffe and I waited patiently for Alistair. After around 1hour 20 minutes I saw him and he looked good and in good spirits, I even got a thumbs up! and he was well inside the time he was hoping for. I then headed for the finish in The Mall outside Buckingham Palace to wait again. As time went by I started to get a bad feeling that something had gone wrong and unfortunately it had, after he saw me he then slowed down as he had gone too fast over the first half and struggled over the last 6 miles but the crowd were fantastic and he said at the end, that and the thought that he couldn't let Rebecca down kept him going. In the end he came in with a time of 3.02.27 which if you ask me was very respectable!! So that was our day, after a swim and a jacuzzi we hit the town and lots of beer later I thought that would be the end since he had said he would only ever do one marathon, however, I should of known better!! He has been looking over the last few months which other one he should do as he is desperate to do one in under 3 hours, I said what about New York!! (selfish I know but just think of all the shopping I could do!!) Anyway both Alistair and I hope that at least he has help out, even a little, with the funds for the best cheer group in Scotland - JC's of course and it goes without saying a big thank you to all that took the time to sponsor him.
